Nick Spencer
My name is Nick Spencer, I am
41 years old and I am employed as a Catering Development Manager for an Inter City Rail Company.
You may surmise from my job that eating and drinking forms a big part of that
role. Prior to November last year I ate and drank and could probably have won a medal for it. I always wanted
to lose weight but just couldn't be bothered. Even though I couldn't buy nice clothes it did not deter my lust
for the finer things in life like good food and great wines. I would regularly eat out at fine restaurants in
London, the richest dishes washed down with a couple of litres of
excellent plonk! In November last year I achieved a record for me, I weighed 22 stone!
Luckily I needed to have my 6
front teeth crowned. For two weeks with temporary teeth I could barely
eat - 2 weeks later with new teeth I still struggled to eat, often feeling sorry for how Shergar used to chew
his hay. Weight came off losing a stone in those weeks with no exercise. I grasped the opportunity and
joined a gym embarking on a fitness regime under my own guidance. I
did well but could not push myself far enough. I contacted New Image, met Jago and told him that my
goal was to enter a Triathlon In August this year. My first contact with Jago was in May.
I could see the shock on his face when I told him of my
aspirations, but he did’nt deter me instead taking on the challenge.
So how did I do
it?
I have been working with New Image now for 12 weeks and with their
training plan, I embarked on a fitness regime which would help me to realise my goal. The triathlon consists
of 750m swim in the Thames, 20km bike ride and 5km run.
In August I completed my goal, I
completed the Triathlon in 2hrs, 1 minute and now have a medal to prove it! Even better, I now weigh 17stone
4lb!
I thoroughly enjoy my new lease of
life - I have no doubt that if I had continued I would not have seen 50 and not have had the enjoyment of seeing my
family grow.
On a final note, I was the best in
the world for making every excuse under the sun of why I couldn't do it, but I did and so can you!
