Whenever you are doing any core strengthening or flexibilty work that is floor based, then a good mat will make the whole experience a lot more comfortable, especially if you dont have much body fat or wooden/laminate floors. I personally think that you want to avoid the pvc covered mats as they dont tend to last for too long before they start to tear and look scruffy. A 10mm foam mat would be my own preference, in fact the mats we use in our studios are the ones on sale here. I have included 2 ranges, a cheaper but effective, dense mat and what I would consider to be the rolls of mats, not cheap but worth every penny.
